Shelby Bram
Sports: Hockey
Shelby Bram was born into hockey, playing with her seven siblings on her backyard rink in Ste. Anne, Manitoba from the time she was old enough to walk. By age four, Shelby was playing for her first hockey team. Growing up in the environment she did, Shelby says hockey has always been an integral part of her life. She says older sister Bailey Bram has been her greatest role model for as long as she can remember, both on and off the ice. The two are close friends, and push each other to be better.
With the goal of further excelling in hockey, Shelby left home to attend Mercyhurst University, the same school Bailey was attending at the time. As a college freshman, Shelby was selected to the U22 Canadian Women’s team, meaning she and Bailey had the opportunity to represent their country side by side for the first time. The experience of playing for Canada alongside her sister and best friend inspired her to continue her pursuit of a national team spot – a pursuit she continues today.
“My favourite parts of hockey are the lifelong friendships I’ve made, the team atmosphere, and the opportunity to explore new parts of the world during tournaments.”
