Pan Am Games, Oct 23 Update
The 2023 Pan American Games are currently underway in Santiago, Chile. At the time of writing, Canada has 38 medals (12 gold, 13 silver, 13 bronze) and Manitoba (or Manitoba-connected) athletes have won 4 of those.
Braven Park, Taekwondo
Oct 21: Braven finished fourth in the Men’s Kyorugi -58kg.
Still to come: Braven will compete on Tuesday, Oct 24 in the Team Taekwondo event with his brother, Tae-Ku, starting at 11:00am.
Tae-Ku Park, Taekwondo
Oct 21: Tae-Ku won 🥉bronze🥉 in the Men’s Kyorugi -68kg.
Still to come: Tae-Ku will compete on Tuesday, Oct 24 in the Team Taekwondo event with his brother, Braven, starting at 11:00am.
Skylar Park, Taekwondo
Oct 22: Skylar won 🥇gold🥇 in the Women’s Kyorugi -57kg.
Still to come: Skylar will compete on Tuesday, Oct 24 in the Team Taekwondo event, starting at 11:00am.
Kelsey Wog, Swimming
Oct 23: Kelsey won 🥈silver🥈 in the 200m breaststroke, finishing just 0.1 seconds behind Canadian Sydney Pickrem.
Abby Dent, Rowing
Oct 23: Abby and teammate Olivia McMurray won 🥈silver🥈 in the Women’s Coxless Pair.
Still to come: Abby will compete again on Tuesday, Oct 24 at 9:30am in the Women’s Eight final. Abby will also compete on Wednesday, Oct 25 at 9:10am in the Mixed 8+ final.
Kevin Lee, Badminton
Oct 23: Winnipeg-born Kevin came 5th in the Men’s Doubles.
Mitch Hupé, Bowling
Bowling competitions are scheduled November 2 to 5, exact dates and times are to be confirmed.
Zoe Hicks, Softball
Softball starts on Sunday, October 29 and wraps up Saturday, November 4. Canada’s game schedule is to be confirmed.
