Sport medicine is the foundation of our athletes’ performance. In order to perform at the highest level, they must be in optimal physical shape. This includes athletic therapy, chiropractic care, massage therapy and more.
CSCM triages the needs of our athletes with medical providers, helping to ensure that the athletes are being cared for efficiently and that the road to recovery is a smooth one. Sport medicine doctors will work to treat any injuries to the body’s muscles, joints, ligaments, tendons and bones as well as chronic illness such as diabetes that could affect an athlete’s physical performance.
Sport Medicine services triaged through CSCM include:
Athletic Therapy. Prevention and care of musculoskeletal disorders (muscles, bones, joints) as they relate to sport.
Chiropractic Care. Improving biomechanical and neuromuscular function.
Massage Therapy. Injury prevention and rehabilitation.
Orthopedic Care.Maintenance and restoration of the proper function of the musculoskeletal system.
Sport Medicine. Examination and maintenance of athletic injuries.
Sport Physiotherapy. Improving functional independence and physical performance in sport.
The Canadian Sport Centre Manitoba acknowledges that our offices are situated on Treaty 1 Land, the original lands of the Anishinaabe, Cree, Ojibway-Cree, Dakota, and Dene Peoples, and on the homeland of the Métis Nation.
The Treaties made on these territories are respected by all those who work at CSCM. We acknowledge the harms and mistakes of the past that were made. In a spirit of collaboration and reconciliation, we dedicate ourselves to continually move forward in partnership with Indigenous communities for ongoing education and learning.
We understand that acknowledging this truth, though important, is only a small part in cultivating the strong relationships we strive to build and maintain with Indigenous communities. We continue to work towards this, with particular attention being paid to the sport specific calls to action #87-91 from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.
We recognize we are not the first to live on this land, and thank these Nations for allowing us access to their land and water.
