Canadian Olympic and Paralympic Sport Institute Network

The Canadian Olympic and Paralympic Sport Institute Network (COPSI Network) provides world-leading training environments to elite athletes and coaches across Canada.

In order to provide a world-class, multi-sport daily training environment for athletes and coaches through expert leadership, services and programs, the Canadian Olympic and Paralympic Sport Institute Network has created venues across Canada. This larger network is called the Canadian Olympic and Paralympic Sport Institute Network. These venues include locations in Atlantic Canada, Montreal, Québec, Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Calgary and the Pacific (Vancouver, Victoria and Whistler).

In 1994, the first ever Canadian Sport Institute was established in Calgary, as there were a number of sport facilities put into place when the city played host to the 1988 Olympic Winter Games. The 1994 Commonwealth Games in Victoria yielded the same result, as did the 1999 Pan American Games in Winnipeg. With a wealth of sport facilities popping up all across the country, this network of institutes continued to grow.

Today, the Network of Centres and Institutes provides centralized, coordinated delivery of personal and professional services to world-class Olympic and Paralympic athletes and coaches. Experts in sport science, sport psychology, strength training, nutrition counselling, dietetics and sport medicine are accessible to the athletes, nurturing their development. These teams are committed to the athletes’ successes, cheering them on both on and off the field.

Shared Vision

The Canadian Olympic Committee (COC), Canadian Olympic Federation (COF), and the Canadian Olympic and Paralympic Sport Institute of Networks (COPSIN) shares a commitment to supporting excellence in sport by identifying the significant value in establishing terms of collaboration to further this common goal. The parties also share a commitment to combatting doping in sport and achieving a clean sport environment for Canadian athletes.

The COC and COF recognize that a closer association with the COPSIN represents a critical partnership opportunity. One of the COC and COF’s key objectives is to win more Olympic medals. To accomplish this they rely on partnerships in the sport system to develop athletes and coaches, and in-turn increase the pool of potential medallists.

COPSIN’s provision of world-class facilities (including CSCM), services and programs contribute greatly to the success of Canada’s high performance athletes in national, international and Olympic/Paralympic competitions.
