Dr. Gail Sawa

Dr. Sawa is a Sport and Exercise Medicine physician with extensive training from the University of Manitoba.  Prior to obtaining her medical degree, she achieved degrees in Physical Education, Physical Therapy and a Master in Science. She has earned the IOC Diploma in Sports Medicine and the Certificate of Added Competency in Sport and Exercise Medicine from the College of Family Physicians of Canada.  Dr. Sawa is the medical director of the Sport Manitoba Clinic working with a multidisciplinary team in patient care.

With a strong background in anatomy, physical rehabilitation, and fitness, Dr. Sawa brings a well-rounded approach to musculoskeletal care. She provides comprehensive musculoskeletal assessments and incorporates ultrasound-guided injections into her practice.  She is well versed in concussion management, and exercise for rehabilitation and for health promotion and prevention.

Dr. Sawa is the Team Physician for the Winnipeg Sea Bears and has a lifelong passion for sport, including gymnastics in which she still actively competes at the master’s level.
