Montréal, July 27, 2023 – The Canadian Olympic and Paralympic Sport Institute Network (COPSIN) enthusiastically welcomes the appointment of the Honourable Carla Qualtrough as Minister of Sport and Physical Activity. Her past experience in this role, as well as in inclusion and accessibility, combined with her understanding of diversity issues, inspire great confidence in her ability to provide inspiring, positive and meaningful leadership. Moreover, the fact that she is a Paralympian will undoubtedly be a great asset to this role.

“The Honourable Qualtrough can be assured of the full cooperation of all COPSIN members. We are ready to continue the work begun in recent years and to work together to continue to strive for sporting excellence for all Canadian high-performance athletes and coaches, as well as the next generation of athletes who use our facilities,” says Wendy Pattenden, COPSIN representative and CEO of the Canadian Sport Institute Pacific.

COPSIN would also like to thank the Honourable Pascale St-Onge for her work over the past two years as Minister of Sport. The Network would like to highlight the great strides in safe sport and good governance that her work has made possible.

“Thanks to Ms. St-Onge’s commitment, the Canadian sport community has made great strides in the areas of safe sport and good governance. By supporting the Canadian sport community, she has played an important role in building a healthier, more united nation,” adds Pattenden.

COPSIN wishes Ms. Qualtrough and Ms. St-Onge every success in their new challenges and hopes they will be inspired by the athletes actively preparing for the Pan American and Parapan American Games in Santiago and the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris.
