About the Program
The Newcomer Sport Internship Program is an initiative by the Canadian Sport Centre Manitoba (CSCM) aimed at providing a pathway for underrepresented individuals who are looking to pursue careers in sport science and administration.
What We Offer
The Newcomer Sport Internship Program offers a one to two year paid internship opportunity specifically for newcomers. Through a blend of hands-on experience, exposure to invaluable networking opportunities, and mentorship, candidates are expected to gain skills and insights into the dynamic field of sport science and administration. Whether you’re starting out in sport science with a keen interest for knowledge or seeking to enrich your professional experience with a new challenge, our program will help you through your pathway to a career in sports.

Program Highlights

Position Description
- Term: One to two years, based on the applicant’s needs, skills, and experiences
- Position: Intern
- Stipend: Full-time: $10,000 annually / Half-time: $5,000 annually
- Type of Position: Internship (full-time or part-time, flexible hours)
- Location: Hybrid (both in person and virtual work)
- Application deadline: August 16, 2024 is the deadline for the first round of applications. Future applications may be accepted on a continuous basis, please check back for details.
General Requirements:
- Newcomers, as defined by the Government of Canada, include recent immigrants, refugees, permanent residents, and those on work or study permits. NSIP is not limited to those in Canada for less than five years.
- Applicant should be at least 18 years old at the start of the internship.
- Proficiency in verbal and written communication skills in English language is preferred (TOEFL, IELTS are accepted but not required).
- Willingness to engage in hands-on tasks.
- Ability to work independently and within a team.
- Open to diverse backgrounds and experiences.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings.
Discipline Specific Requirements
