Newcomer Sport Internship Program FAQ

This program provides newcomers to Canada with practical experience in sport science and sport administration. It offers training in areas like strength and conditioning, physiology, sport nutrition, mental performance, and sport admin and marketing.

Newcomers to Canada from diverse backgrounds, including high school graduates and professionals, passionate about sport science or sport administration.

Applications are submitted online through our program’s webpage. You will need to fill out the application form and provide required documents.

Typically, you’ll need a resume, a cover letter, and possibly a Criminal Record check along with an Adult and Child Abuse Registry check. Specific requirements will be detailed on the application form.

The application deadline for the first round is August 16th, 2024. Selected candidates will begin the program on September 15, 2024.

Interns will develop expertise in sport science or sport administration, build valuable industry connections, and gain hands-on experience in a supportive environment.

Yes, the internship is paid. The exact stipend or salary will be confirmed and shared during the application process.

The internship offers both part-time and full-time options. Working hours are discipline-specific and flexible, allowing interns to balance other commitments. Interns should be available to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings if needed.

Interns receive mentorship, exposure to professional development opportunities and possible connections in the field.

Interns will engage in projects, attend training and educational sessions, participate in mentorship meetings, and gain hands-on experience in practical and administrative tasks. Additionally, they will have networking opportunities, collaborate on group projects, and present their work, with regular evaluations and feedback throughout the program.

The program will typically last between one to two years, with specific timelines depending on the individual, their progress and specific discipline program structure.

Selection is based on eligibility criteria, including relevant interest or experience, and evaluation of application materials. Interviews are also conducted to assess fit.

The program aims to help interns develop skills and networks that can help kickstart their careers in sport science and administration.
