Being Honest About Your Mental Well-Being

Dr. Adrienne Leslie-Toogood, Director of Sport Psychology

In sport, we know when our body is healthy; and we know when we are hurt or when we have an injury that needs attention to get better. Looking at the Mental Health Continuum on the previous page modified for sport, we see that the sport continuum serves as a way to help us start to gain language around our mental well-being.  Take a look and start to get a feel for whether you are mentally well. How can you tell when you are healthy? How can you tell when you are struggling? As Emily Potter from Women’s Basketball reminds us: “It’s okay to not be okay” and “Let yourself feel how you are feeling”.
